Tired of struggling with press-on nails?
Do you feel like nail jelly glue is just a waste of money?
Don’t get upset or frustrated!
In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to use solid nail jelly glue to make your press-on nails stay perfectly in place. 💖
A gentle reminder — it’s best to remove your press-on nails after about a week.
We know they look gorgeous and you might feel uneasy without them,
but for the sake of your natural nails, give them a little break for a couple of days before reapplying! 🌷
What You’ll Need
First, prepare the following tools:
Items marked as optional are not a must,
but using them can make your press-ons stick even more securely —
feel free to choose based on your needs. 💅
You can find cuticle softeners and quartz sticks at most local drugstores.
The solid nail jelly glue (as shown above) is a gel-type product,
so it needs to be cured under a UV/LED lamp.
It’s super easy to use — just cut out the right amount of jelly glue you need.
If you’ve ever used solid gel in a tube,
you’ll know how tricky it can be to control the amount and avoid overflow —
sometimes it’s just exhausting! 😅
Since the launch of solid nail jelly glue,
it has greatly reduced the technical challenges of applying press-on nails.
As for the lamp, we recommend using a full-size 36W lamp —
it’s fast and cures everything evenly in one go.
If you prefer something portable and easy to store,
you can go for a slim bar-shaped lamp instead.
Paste steps
1. Trim your nails
Trimming your nails can help your nails fit better and make it less likely that hair (or other things) will get caught on the tip of your nails.
When trimming, only about 1-2mm of the nail needs to be left (no need to cut off all the white part).
2. Push the cuticle
There is a thin layer of film on the nails, which is the cuticle of the nails.
If you want to do your nails or apply nail polish, you need to deal with it.
If you have thin skin or don't know where to start, you can choose a safe quartz rod.
If you are more experienced or have skin of normal thickness, you can choose steel pushers. Both are acceptable.
(If you are too lazy to buy quartz rods and other tools, you can use the beech wood stick that comes with the armor. It looks like a short chopstick.)
You can choose to exfoliate directly after taking a shower, or use the cuticle softener mentioned above.
Apply a layer Cuticle softener is used on the part that needs to be treated with cuticles.
Take a basin of warm water and soak your hands in it for 5-10 minutes, then you can exfoliate.
The cuticle will feel a bit muddy or powdery when pushed, so just wipe it off.
If there is still cuticle, continue to repeat the steps until the surface of the nail is clean.
(You can use the scissors to strengthen the parts that need trimming. If you don’t dare to cut or there is not much to deal with, you can skip it.)
3. Polishing the nail surface
Take out the sponge that comes with the armor (if you don't know which one is the sponge, the thicker one is it).
Polishing in one direction (not back and forth), can be done vertically or horizontally (horizontally in the picture).
Polishing without affecting the curvature of the nail will not damage the nail.
After polishing the nails, simply clean them and use alcohol to lightly clean the nail surface.
*A little reminder: it is recommended that the entire surface of the nails be in a matte state so that the nail polish will stick firmly when worn !
(Added on 2025/3/5: When using jelly glue, it is recommended to polish the entire nail surface. Solid glue and solid jelly glue are not recommended to polish the entire surface, otherwise it will be difficult to remove! You can choose not to polish or polish a little bit)
4. Use a balancer (omit if you don’t have one)
Sometimes there will be lotion or hand cream left on the nail surface, and the oil will affect the firmness of the nails.
In addition, part of the alcohol used in the previous step will evaporate.
But the alcohol we use daily is about 75%, which means there will be a little water left after the alcohol evaporates.
The function of the balance agent is to remove water and oil, and it is usually used when doing manicures.
Just apply a thin layer of balance agent on the nail surface to increase its firmness.
*Balancer can be purchased at Shopee, and a bottle costs just over a hundred dollars. If I see it in a drugstore later, I will update it.
5. Apply solid jelly glue
All the preliminary work has been done, and now you can apply the jelly glue!
Choose a size similar to the nail surface, and keep it about 1mm away from the edge of the nail when applying.
If the nail bed is very long and one sheet of jelly glue is not enough, you can add another sheet on the nail surface that is not covered.
Because solid jelly glue is ductile, excess glue can be easily removed, so don't worry about using too much.
6. Put on the nail plate
Place the nail piece at 45 degrees on the glue (close to the edge of the finger), do not press down to fix it.
Confirm that there is glue at three points on the finger edge (right in the picture below) before pressing down.
7. Confirm location
After pressing down, first confirm the position and make sure the front and back are not skewed. You can still make adjustments without looking at the light.
8. Lighting
Before shining the light, you can check whether there is any glue overflow, because the solid jelly glue is very ductile.
Therefore, when pressing down, the excess glue will be squeezed out. At this time, just remove the excess glue.
When shining the light, first fix the edge of the finger (2-3 seconds), and then press the whole body.
When shining the light, in addition to shining the front for 60 seconds, the back should also be illuminated for 60 seconds to prevent the glue from not drying out and easily flipping up.
* After the front side is fully dry, you can use a large light to illuminate the back side. If you use a small light, you can use 2-3 fingers to illuminate, which can save time.
Removing armor
First, you need to prepare a nail polish remover pen (or nail polish remover), or nail polish + alcohol if you have it on hand.
Using alcohol alone will be too drying, so it is recommended to add a little oil to prevent nails from being damaged easily. Only healthy nails can continue to be beautiful.
1. Soak in warm water
Soak your hands in warm water for 5-10 minutes to soften your nails, making them more resilient and less susceptible to damage.
2. Inject the nail polish remover liquid in the nail remover pen (or nail polish remover, nail oil + alcohol, etc.) into the nail and nail tip.
This step should be slow, don't rush.
Slightly push the nail apart and slowly inject the nail polish remover liquid onto the edge of the finger and both sides.
(If you are using nail oil + alcohol, you can apply nail oil on the junction of the nails and then spray alcohol, and then use the beech stick.)
After making sure that the three sides are loose , try to push it up slowly.
Do not lift your nails suddenly when they are very tight , as this may damage them.
Basically, don't use too much force, and remove the nail polish gently and slowly, so that the nails will not separate.
If you change your nails frequently (2-3 times a week), it is recommended not to polish them every time.
After all, when polishing nails, a thin layer of nails will be worn off more or less.
If you change your nails frequently and polish them every time, the chance of your nails getting injured will be very high.
Naturally, you will feel that wearing armor will hurt your armor. If you have any questions, you can leave a message or click "Chat" in the lower right corner of the page to ask.
